If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

10 Healthy Morning Routines

How do you start your morning? Do you eat breakfast, or do you skip straight ahead to the coffee? Do you leap out of bed upon the first sound of your alarm, or do you press the snooze button ten times? Are you able to take your time and relax as you start your day, or are you forced to run out the door every day?

If you answered the latter of the above questions, it might be time to reevaluate how you start your mornings.

Your 100 Year Lifestyle often begins in the morning. When you start your day in a positive manner, it generally determines how the rest of your day will follow.

Wake Up Early in the Morning

Ben Franklin said it best: “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” When you wake up early after receiving a good night’s sleep, you have more time to be successful. Adults need anywhere from seven to nine hours per night. Children and teens need even more because they’re still growing and developing. Even older people need at least seven to stay healthy and alert. The earlier you wake up, the more you can get done in the morning, taking away the stress from the rest of your day.

Stretch

You need to get your blood flowing again after being horizontal for an entire night. As soon as you wake up, do a few poses to loosen up your muscles and get them ready for the day ahead.

Drink Water

Drinking water is one of the most important things you can do to prepare your body for the rest of the day. Humans need to drink about two liters a day, so getting started early will help you stay feeling good.

Take a Morning Shower

Waking up early comes easier to some than others. When you shower in the morning, you re-hydrate your skin from sweating throughout the night. On top of that, showers just feel great, and they help you wake up faster than you might usually be able to do without them.

Write a To-Do List

When you have time to plan out your day, it helps things seem less daunting. If you wake up and immediately run out the door to your job, you might experience more overwhelming feelings and be less motivated to do anything.

Get Started on Your Work

Morning hours are often quiet and peaceful, and usually people are better at getting things done in conditions like those. Marking something off of your to-do list can help your day seem more manageable.

Make Your Bed

Though this might seem silly to some, it restores order to your day and helps you feel more put together. It creates an inner calm that helps relieves some potential stress.

Early Morning Workout

If you go on a run, head to a yoga class, or even just go for a walk, you get your blood pumping early on, and this clears your mind and helps you feel like a champion all day long.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Nuts, yogurt, berries, and tea often give you the energy you need to get the day started off right. Not to mention, this helps tide you over until lunch and helps you stay alert all day.

Options Other Than Cars

When possible, ride public transit, ride your bike, or walk to work. Not only does this help you be a healthier person, but when you do these things, you also improve the overall health of the environment.

It’s up to you how you start your morning, but a 100 Year Lifestyle morning begins with these healthy habits. The early bird gets the worm, and there are plenty of worms waiting for you when you get your day started right.
